Annual BizTech show Thursday in Beaver Creek

BEAVER CREEK – Dave Smiley is a regular at the annual BizTech show at Beaver Creek. It gives him a chance to tell people where his tents come from.

Smiley, who owns Alpine Party Rentals, always brings his company’s margarita machines – which serve non-alcoholic smoothies at the show. But, he said, the show also gives him a chance to tell people about the other services his company provides.

“People always ask me where I get my tents,” Smiley said. “I own them – they come from our warehouse.”

It seems simple, but without the exposure provided by a pre-season trade show, a lot of people wouldn’t know what Alpine Party Rentals can do.

That’s what Tim Bergman is hoping for. Bergman, the general manager of Integra Auto Center in Gypsum, is bringing his relatively new company to BizTech for the first time this year.

“We just want to let people know we’re out here,” Bergman said.

While Integra has started selling cars in the last few months, Bergman said the company’s BizTech booth will focus on its auto service – along with some discount coupons – and contributions to the community.

“We’re trying to find as many ways as possible to get the word out,” Bergman said.

Mountain Communications is a BizTech veteran. The company’s Linda Thompson said the show is a chance to show off services beyond cell phones – specifically two-way radios and security cameras.

But, if they make it in time, Mountain Communications will also show off some new Windows 7 smart phones.

Monica Mattingly of NRC Broadcasting said that company is sharing master of ceremonies duties at the show this year. And that company has one of the better giveaways – a drawing for Dave Matthews Band tickets.

The company will also have some of its radio personalities on hand so people can meet the people they may listen to.

“It’s just a chance for us to meet people we might not meet otherwise,” she said.
