Answerland – Vail mail counter closed?
Why has the very convenient U.S. Post Office in the Vail Transportation Center been closed? Will it be reopened?
Mike Rose, transportation manager for Vail Transit, said the vendor for the post office counter called him in late December and said she was shutting its doors because it was unprofitable.
“They just said they weren’t making enough money and shut the doors and went home,” Rose said.
The U.S. Postal Service is now seeking a replacement vendor to run the “contract postal unit.”
The vendor was the second operator in the 11 months the counter has been open. The postal counter is on the third floor of the Transportation Center next to La Cantina.
