The next group of county-subsidized units in Eagle’s Haymeadow neighborhood is about to come up for sale, and the application list is open.
The Eagle County Board of Commissioners in 2023 approved a $26.4 million deal to buy 43 deed-restricted units at the project. The fund is being repaid as units are purchased.

The first 14 of those subsidized units have been sold, with another five under contract. More are coming up for sale, with seven units in building C and another two in building E just about ready to come to market.
Eagle County Housing Director Kim Bell Williams said the units — all of which have two bedrooms and two bathrooms, range in size between 881 and 1,085 square feet. Every unit has either a garage or a storage unit. The county purchased all those units at a single price per square foot, and all are subsidized by at least $160,000 per unit.
Bell Williams said the initial waiting list was filled out as of Feb. 29 of this year, and everyone on that list who wanted a home has now purchased one. But, she added, some of the people on that list have fallen off, either because they’ve moved, purchased another home, or decided to rent. That means the application list is open.

The 43 county-subsidized units at Haymeadow are part of the first 76 units at the project. All of those units are deed-restricted, and the town of Eagle controls another 33 of those units, administered through two separate programs.
As of Dec. 13, the average interest rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage is 6.659%. Homes come with a one-year warranty.
Homes will be shown to interested potential buyers. Potential buyers must live and work in Eagle County and can’t own any other property. Appreciation is capped at a maximum of 3% per year. Bell Williams said people can be under contract quickly, depending on whether they’re qualified.
This is a slower time to buy, she added, so “this can be a once in a lifetime opportunity” for those looking for a home, she added.
