VAIL — The 17th annual CarniVail brings New Orleans-style fun to Vail on Feb. 6-9.

The Mardi Gras-style event kicks off with an on-mountain crawfish boil on Feb. 6. The lineup of activities also includes Cajun apres events, after-dark parties, the Fat Tuesday Parade and street festival, as well as contests and giveaways.

Entries for the Fat Tuesday Parade on Feb. 9 are being accepted and are due by Jan. 22. CarniVail invites local businesses, organizations and groups to participate with a chance to win a $1,000 prize for the winning entry.

The parade takes place from 4 to 5 p.m. and will go from Meadow Drive at Solaris Plaza, across the International Bridge and east on Gore Creek Drive where it ends with the crowning of the CarniVail king and queen, as well as float winner.

Judging for the floats will be based on creativity, workmanship, originality, costumes and casting, as well as overall impression. Parade registration is free and open to the public.

MarchFourth Marching Band will be providing free entertainment afterward, and locals and guests are encouraged to dress in Mardi Gras apparel.
