Applications open for Avon Community Grant Program, must be submitted by Aug. 27

AVON — The town of Avon is now accepting applications for the 2019 Town of Avon Community Grant Program. The town welcomes applications from organizations and agencies seeking funding for programs, projects, services or activities that support the stated priorities in the Town of Avon 2017-19 Strategic Plan.
The application materials, which include application submission requirements, review criteria and the application schedule, are available at http://www.avon.org/communitygrants. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27.
The 2019 funding decisions will be based solely upon an organization's written application. No interviews with applicants will be held. An Ad Hoc Review Committee, composed of citizens representing businesses and nonprofits, plus several town staff persons, will review all applications and make the funding recommendations.
The Ad Hoc Review Committee's funding recommendations will be incorporated into the annual proposed budget, which the Avon Town Council will take action on during a public hearing tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 23.
In 2018, the Town Council approved $161,000 in cash funding for community grants. This funding level is again targeted in 2019, but the Avon Town Council will decide the final amount. Organizations will be notified of awards in November.
