April precipitation in Avon was about average but it was warmer than average by five degrees.

Avon weather watcher Frank Doll, who has been recording temperatures and precipitation for the National Weather Service from his back yard since 1968, said the high temperature for April was 70 degrees, and it was hit on April 16, 27 and 28. The low temperature, 19, occurred April 11.

Nine inches of snow fell and a total of 2.65 inches of moisture was recorded – that’s about average. Over the last quarter century the lowest snowfall total for the month, 1.5 inches, occurred in 1988 and the high, 23, the following year.

Average daily high temperature was 59 degrees and the average daily low, was 33.3.
