VAIL ” Vail Mountain School held their 29th annual holiday gala Nov. 27th at the Vail Marriott Resort and Spa.

The theme for this year was “Around the World in 80 Days,” which was reflected in the auction packages and decorations.

“The choice of Jules Verne’s adventure as a theme for this important fund-raising event is perfect for all of us who like to relieve magical moments while also making all sorts of great adventures possible in the classroom this year,” Headmaster Peter Abuisi said.

Chairperson Jeanne Nedrelow worked with Jennifer White and their committees to create an astounding auction, which included such highlights as a trip to Bali, a home-cooked meal by Chef Dean Fearing of Dallas’ Mansion on Turtle Creek, and a 35-minute flight on a MIG 17 fighter jet with Col. Jack Wilhite.

Guests were greeted with the S.S. VMS Martini Bar, which, for $50, one could buy a martini and have a one-in-240-chance to win a pair of $3,000 diamond earrings. The “Action Auction,” with host Tony Mauro, entertained guests while they perused the silent auction.
