DENVER, Colorado ” Denver Police have arrested the driver of a white pickup in the alleged hit-and-run that killed two women in a Freedom Cab and closed the main road to Denver International Airport for several hours today.
Northbound Pena Boulevard, the highway to Denver International Airport, reopened this afternoon shortly after the arrest.
“We located a vehicle at DIA and subsequently were able to locate the driver,” Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said, indicating that investigators had spoken to eyewitnesses. “He’s under arrest. We’ll be consulting with the DA on charges.”
Police did not release the name of the driver of the pickup.
The Freedom Cab minivan was taking two women to DIA when it apparently was hit by another car about 10:45 this morning, Jackson said.
“That caused it to roll and eject the passengers,” Jackson said
One of the women passengers died at the scene; the other was taken to University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora where she died, Jackson said.
The driver of the Freedom Cab was taken to Denver Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
