EDWARDS, Colorado – Five juveniles have been arrested in connection to burglaries that occurred at Battle Mountain High School and Berry Creek Middle School in Edwards last month, police said.
About $9,000 worth of electronic and other equipment was taken from the schools in the burglaries, which occurred June 17 and June 19, according to the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office recovered the property stolen from the schools on June 23 at the Eagle River Village Trailer Park in Edwards. Physical evidence left at the crime scenes as well as tips from citizens led the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office to five Eagle County juveniles believed to have been involved in the burglaries and another for theft by receiving. The suspects admitted their involvement in the crime during questioning and were arrested.
Deputies also recovered cell phones, tools, stereo and other items that have yet to be reported lost or stolen.
“I would like to return all of the stolen property my deputies recovered to the rightful owners,” said Sheriff Joe Hoy. “We need the community to help us by making a report.”
