Art of retailing seminar set for July

Daily Staff Writer

VAIL – Retail consultant Lisa Duncan returns this summer to the Vail Valley Chamber and Tourism Bureau’s Art of Retailing series. Local merchants are invited to the first of two programs, focusing on merchandising and visual displays from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. on July 13 at Manor Vail Resort. The program is limited to Chamber and Tourism Bureau members and costs $25. The deadline to RSVP is July 11. “This year we’re focusing a number of our educational programs on a specific business group, like retail,” said Robin Litt, vice president of partnership for the Chamber and Tourism Bureau. In part one, Duncan will discuss the five important elements to being a “peddler with panache”: image, intention, invitation, ingenuity and inspiration. Part Two, entitled ‘Promotions & Advertising,’ will be held on Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Evergreen Lodge in Vail. At that session, Duncan will talk about hosting seasonal events, vendor relations and image, among other topics. Duncan has spent over 20 years in the fashion industry, beginning as a buyer with Nordstrom. She later moved on to become the owner of three specialty boutiques in Texas, and later was the national sales manager for a Danish fashion accessory company.
