AVON, Colorado – Watercolorist Elaine Kuntz and oil and watercolor painter Chris Sena are exhibiting their paintings in the Avon Library Community Room during August. Kuntz is inspired by the Vail Valley’s natural beauty, she said.

“I love sketching scenes and flowers in the gardens and wildflower meadows. Hikes and snowshoe trips are sources of photos to work from in the studio.”

Sena, who lives in Edwards, is displaying paintings depicting Delicate Arch in Moab.

“When I arrived at the park it was enveloped in a big white cloud,” she said. “Blue sky was visible above the cloud and I was certain it would burn off by the time I reached Delicate Arch.-The cloud thickened as I drew closer to the trailhead. Sound was muffled and ordinary objects took on indistinct shapes and muted colors.-When I arrived at the arch it was still surrounded by a cloud, which took 20 minutes to dissipate.-

My paintings reflect the experience of walking through clouds in this sandstone landscape.”
