EDWARDS — If you’re looking for a creative outlet to keep your children and teens entertained this summer, then Alpine Arts Center’s summer camps include a lineup of themed art sessions from June through August. Kids camps such as Sweet Summertime, Art FUNdamentals, Legos & 3D Sculpture and the popular Parade Float Extravaganza give children ages 3-6 and 7-12 a chance to explore all mediums such as painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture and printmaking.

Campers will also have the opportunity to venture outside for art excursions. For teens, camps are specialized and include offerings such as Painting & Drawing, Teen Clay Camp, Digital Photography and Street Art/Graffiti Mural Painting.

Summer camp early registration is going on now through Wednesday, with discounts for locals on session camps and flexible punch cards.

“Summer is our busiest time of year, and we are excitedly planning lessons to go along with our new camp themes,” said Lauren Merrill, owner of Alpine Arts Center. “We are also collecting items such as Legos, toilet paper rolls, white sheets for batik tapestries and tie-dye and more.”

To make donations, call Alpine Arts Center prior to delivery.

While teenagers often have less structured summer schedules, Merrill encourages early registration for teen art camps as well.

“Teens have a blast at our more specialized art camps, especially when signing up with a group of friends,” she said.

Merrill said a week commitment is required for these in-depth courses, and teen camps run from 1 to 4 p.m. throughout the week. Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment may be canceled, so advanced registration is highly recommended.

Adult Summer Class Schedule

Alpine Arts Center is in the process of finalizing the adult summer class schedule. However, some courses such as Butch Mazzuca’s DSLR Photography and Michael Jackman’s Plein Air Acrylic Painting are already open for registration by popular demand. Alpine Arts Center will also continue its adult Cocktails series classes on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the summer.

Alpine Arts Center also offers drop-in activities, private parties and special programs in addition to its class schedule. Drop-ins for art activities such as paint pottery, ceramics and painting are welcome this spring every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and other times by appointment. Alpine Arts Center will have extended summer drop-in hours starting in June.
