BEAVER CREEK — Painter and Colorado resident, Don Sahli, has found a way to embrace the outdoors in a different way. While painting on location, Sahli enjoys the sunshine and crisp blue shadows of winter as well as the falling snow, letting the snowflakes mix into his palette. The last apprentice to the famous Russian colorist, Sergi Bongart, Sahli’s subjects celebrate the colorful and spectacular west, while his use of light and spontaneity of brushstrokes reveal his training in the Russian School of Painting.
Depicting Beaver Creek
During Presidents Day weekend, Don Sahli will spend each day plein air painting, in and around the Beaver Creek area. With the help of an “art Sherpa,” Sahli will head up the mountain, setting up his easel to paint spectacular Beaver Creek views and favorite village locations. At the end of the day, Sahli will bring his finished masterpieces to Paderewski Fine Art Gallery, where you are invited to view the fruits of a hard day’s field work. Art enthusiasts can continue their journey in the gallery with Sahli as he works from his plein air pieces to create larger paintings.
