Artist Eric Von Schmidt on display at the Avon Library
Local artist Eric Von Schmidt is finishing up an art showing at the Avon Library this week.Von Schmidt has worked in the commercial art world for 20 years, serving as an art director, designer and illustrater. He’s designed the Universal Studios 75th movie logo, Epcot Center and Tokyo Disney Land. He also did the interior design and rendering for the king of Saudi Arabia’s private jet. He studied at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit and the Art Center in Pasadena, Calif. Von Schmidt has also taught in California at Otis Parsons Art School and at UCLA art department.Von Schmidt has been nominated for an Emmy and has won a Tele Award.His passion, however, creating in oil paint and living in the mountains. His oils are on display at the Avon Library through August.
