VAIL — The Vail Public Library welcomes back local artist and author Helen Hiebert at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 5 for another fun, hands-on paper project. Enjoy a festive evening with Hiebert as she shows participants how to create shadow ornaments which are featured in her book, “Playing with Paper.” Attendees can make an ornament for their tree or to give as a holiday gift.
Hiebert’s immensely popular paper lantern workshops, in conjunction with Art in Public Places and Vail Holidaze, attracted more than 100 participants during the 2013 winter holidays. Recently, she hosted two successful workshops at the library, “Personalized Greeting Cards” and “Brag Books.”
Hiebert is passionate about paper. As an artist, she has received numerous commissions and her works have been exhibited both nationally and internationally. She is a recent recipient of the Colorado Creative Industries JumpStart Grant. Hiebert is the author of many titles including “The Papermaker’s Companion,” “Papermaking with Plants” and “Paper Illuminated.”
Her creations have been featured in House and Garden, Country Living, Oregon Home and Architectural Records magazines.
The cost for the workshop is $10, which includes materials and instruction. Space is limited so please RSVP to Liz Willhoff at 970-479-2190 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
