EDWARDS — Tonight kicks off Alpine Arts Center’s holiday market weekend with a communitywide holiday party. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., artists participating in this weekend’s market will celebrate and showcase their handmade creations, with live music by Rob Eaton Jr. and Johnny Schleper. Complimentary appetizers and treats will be served, and Alpine Arts Center’s bar will be open for happy hour drink specials.
“There aren’t many places you can get your holiday shopping done while sipping on a glass of wine and enjoying live music by a two talented local musicians,” said Lauren Merrill, owner of Alpine Arts Center. “Rob Eaton Jr. and Johnny Schleper make a great duo, and we invite them to play every year because they make the evening fun for all ages.”
Merrill said this is the seventh annual Artists’ Holiday Market, and 19 or more artists will be displaying and selling handmade holiday gifts. The market will take place today from noon to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Alpine Arts Center. Throughout the weekend, the public is invited to browse and shop for gifts and partake in hot cider and cookies, and kids’ crafts will be offered from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
The Artists’ Holiday Market will include handmade pottery, paintings, jewelry, hats and scarves, home accessories, fused glass, greeting cards, paper calendars, soaps, journals, painted sleds, framed photography, ornaments, framed illustrations and more.
“Being a part of the holiday market is a great way for me to share my work with the local community,” said Alice Feagan, a children’s illustrator. “This year, I’ll have framed and canvas prints, kids’ placemats and notecards at the market, all of which make great, affordable gifts for the holidays.”
Other participating artists include Amy Burford, Mickey Fried, Michelle Stecher, Sam Mizwicki, Valerie Gross, Helen Hiebert, Jessica Bevan, Tracy Norman, Willow Murphy, Pamela Saden, Steve Chinn, David Mayer, Lauren Merrill, Robin Nash, Claire Lenz, Tara Marsden, Debbie Feeney and Kelsey Head.
Alpine Arts Center will also have a less than $10 section, with stocking stuffers and smaller gifts, plus arts center gift certificates for sale. Alpine Arts Center will remain open for drop-in activities such as paint pottery holiday gift making throughout the weekend from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will have specialty holiday crafts upstairs in the kids’ room. Select items will remain on display and for sale throughout the month of December for last minute holiday shopping.
Alpine Arts Center is located at 210 Edwards Village Blvd., Unit A105, in the Edwards Commercial Park. For more information on the Artists’ Holiday Market, visit http://www.alpinearts center.org or call 970-926-2732.
