Artists of all ages compete at Arts for Hunger benefit
Vail CO Colorado
EDWARDS, Colorado – The second annual Arts For Hunger fundraiser will take place at Alpine Arts Center on Nov. 11 from 5 to 10 p.m. Artists will compete in three categories – child, teen and adult – and battle for first place as they create pieces based on the theme of “hunger.” Proceeds from the event benefit The Vail Valley Salvation Army and Food Rescue Express, two local organizations working to combat hunger in the Vail Valley this holiday season. Tickets are on sale now for the event.
Artists in the children and teen categories will be “live” from 5 to 7 p.m., adults from 6 to 9 p.m. The silent auction will conclude at 9:30 p.m. and winners in each category will be announced at that time. Tickets for the event are $20 presale and $30 at the door, and include appetizers provided by Dish restaurant and La Tour, a drink ticket and entertainment all evening long.
“The creative energy at Arts For Hunger last year was amazing,” said Jodi Link, owner of Activity Sitters and co-founder of the event. “This year we’re even more excited about the artists participating and have some great auction items donated by local businesses for our silent auction.”
The artwork created at the event is also for auction, so after watching the artists in action, spectators can vote for their favorites and also bid to take them home.
“We are committed to bringing the community together around the arts,” said Lauren Merrill, owner of Alpine Arts Center. “Events like Arts for Hunger are a perfect way to showcase the artistic talent here in our valley and expose the public to a unique, cultural evening of performance art.”
