Aspen powder poachers fined

ASPEN, Colorado ” Three men were fined $250 each by a judge Tuesday after they pleaded guilty to violating the state’s skier safety act when they accessed a closed section of Aspen Highlands.

The skiers ” Charles Kashiwa, 23, of Denver, and Russell Francis, 51, and Adam Francis, 21, both of Beaconsfield, England ” appeared before Pitkin County Court Judge Erin Fernandez-Ely at a morning hearing.

The elder Francis is the father of Adam.

The three men were arrested Sunday by sheriff’s deputies for going into an off-limits part of Highland Bowl. They were each issued a summons for the infraction.

Each skier faced a maximum fine of $1,000.
