Athletic Club at Avon Westin offers two new training programs
AVON — The Athletic Club at The Westin is launching two new training programs this winter — a masters swim clinic starting on Saturday and an indoor triathlon series starting on Sunday.
Whether training for an Ironman or XTERRA competition or simply to stay in shape, the masters swim program will provide expert instruction in the pool to help you improve your technique and gain confidence.
Taught by Steve Croucher, this three-part program will cater to beginner swimmers at 8 a.m. and intermediate-advanced swimmers at 9 a.m. on the following dates:
Support Local Journalism
Saturday: Correct body position and posture and proper turn form.
Feb. 22: Focus on hand positioning, breaking down your kick and the sweep-to-catch transition.
March 15: Analyzing ways to generate more power, the best breathing and cadence patterns and finding your inner sprinting speed. Overview of open water sighting techniques and strategy.
The masters swim pricing is $30 per class, or $65 for all three sessions. Athletic Club members can participate for $20 per class, or $45 for all three sessions. Private video analysis is also available for $15 per half hour.
The Athletic Club at The Westin is also offering a three-part indoor triathlon series starting in January. Open to all levels, this is a chance to give triathlons a try in a fun and supportive environment.
Each hour-long session will be broken down into a 10 minute swim, a 20 minute ride on the CompuTrainer or stationary bike and a 15 minute run on the treadmill.
The indoor triathlon series will be held at 4 p.m. on Feb. 23 and March 16.
The pricing is $30 per event or $80 for the series. Athletic Club at The Westin members can participate for $25 per event or $65 for the series.
