This little guy, Andy Hetzel from Littleton, caught his first fish the other night at the Fishing Fun for Kids program at Sylvan Lake State Park. Soon after landing a rainbow trout, Andy caught his next fish, a nice little brookie. His dad had tears in his eyes. Andy was pretty proud. There were reports of good eating the next day, too!

Fans of the football program at The Ohio State University will remember Earle Bruce, who succeeded the legendary Woody Hayes as the head football coach there.Bruce and his wife, Jean, will be the guests of honor at a reception at Paddys in Eagle-Vail on Wednesday, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.Bruce has a pretty good local connection. He and his wife are coming to spend a night at 4Eagle Ranch with Tom and Tess Backhus.Those of you who know Backhus know he was a guard on the Buckeyes 1968 national championship team.Bruce was Backhus position coach at Ohio State. Backhus worked for Bruce at the University of Tampa and Iowa State University. The pupil and teacher have remained close over the years.So head out to Paddys to say hi to Tom and hobnob with one of footballs great coaches.

The Vail Local Marketing District is looking for fun-loving families to take part in a summer photo shoot July 22 and 23. The shoot will be run by renowned photographer Chase Jarvis.No experience is necessary; everyone keeps their clothes on, and theres a little money involved.The district needs families, with parents in their 30s and 40s, along with teen or pre-teen kids, couples in their 30s and 40s and avid golfers in their 30s and 40s.
