Attorneys agree to unseal civil suit documents
DENVER ” Attorneys for the woman accusing Kobe Bryant of rape agreed Wednesday that their motion to proceed anonymously with a civil lawsuit against the NBA star can be made public, but they still want to keep the woman’s name private.
The 20-year-old woman’s attorneys asked in a court filing that an affidavit by attorney L. Lin Wood remain sealed because it names the woman.
“For purposes of protecting her anonymity we are agreeing to unseal the motion and supporting memorandum but not my affidavit in which she is identified,” Wood said.
The latest filing came after attorneys for a dozen news organizations objected to requests by the woman’s attorneys to seal the motion and supporting documents.
The media and Bryant’s lawyers can still file objections to the latest filing. Bryant’s attorneys did not return a message seeking comment after business hours Wednesday.
