Author of ‘Scent of the Missing’ in Avon Thursday
May 25, 2011
The “Books in Bloom” author series, presented by the Eagle Valley Library District, continues Thursday at 6 p.m. with Susannah Charleson and her partner, search-and-rescue dog Puzzle. In her well-received book “Scent of the Missing: Love and Partnership with a Search-and-Rescue Dog,” Charleson shares how she was inspired to volunteer by the brave contributions of Oklahoma City bombing search-and-rescue dog teams. The book explores her relationship with the very exuberant Puzzle, and their efforts during numerous search-and-rescue operations.
Charleson is a flight instructor and canine search-and-rescue team member. Her partner Puzzle, is a Golden Retriever certified for the rescue/recovery of missing persons in urban, wilderness, disaster and scent discrimination searches.
“Books in Bloom” is a spring author series at the Avon Public Library. The Bookworm of Edwards will be at each event selling books.
The series continues June 9 with Mark Gardner, historian and Colorado author of “To Hell on a Fast Horse: Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, and the Epic Chase to Justice in the Old West.”
