Avalanche kills 2 more in British Columbia
GOLDEN, British Columbia ” Another deadly avalanche has killed two skiers in British Columbia.
The victims were among four people who were skiing Saturday afternoon in a permanently closed avalanche area near the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in the Rocky Mountains near Golden, British Columbia.
Police say both men who died were from Calgary, Alberta. Their names were not immediately released.
Both buried skiers were found by search and rescue workers within half an hour of a call for help, but were pronounced dead shortly after being taken to hospital in Golden.
The death toll this avalanche season in Western Canada is near 20 people, including eight snowmobilers who died in an avalanche last December near Fernie, British Columbia.
