Avon 2017 Street Improvements Project begins Aug. 30, lasts eight weeks
AVON — The town of Avon began construction on the 2017 Street Improvements Project on Wednesday. The 2017 Street Improvements Project consists of asphalt milling, repair, overlay and striping of Nottingham Road, East Benchmark Road and Beaver Creek Place.
The project includes replacement of select sections of concrete curb and gutter, replacement of concrete sidewalk and curb ramps to achieve Americans with Disabilities Act compliance and the addition of approximately 650 feet of sidewalk along the north side of Nottingham Road west of Buck Creek Road.
Work will be performed Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The project will require temporary lane closures during construction, and traffic control will be in place. Motorists may encounter minor delays and are asked to allow for additional travel time. The project will take approximately eight weeks to complete and is being constructed by Oldcastle SW Group Inc. on behalf of the town.
• Traffic impact: East Benchmark Road will be closed to through traffic from Sept. 5 to Sept. 15 at 10 a.m.
• Transit impact: Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 5, the Christy Sports and Loaded Joes bus stops on East Benchmark Road will be closed until Friday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m.
