Avon adds economic initiatives director
The town of Avon has appointed Susan Fairweather as director of economic initiatives — a new position in the town. Hiring an economic development specialist is a critical step in working with existing businesses and attracting new ones, as well as developing Avon’s special event offerings.
Fairweather will focus on filling vacant office spaces and will work with the town’s regional economic development partners. A native of Colorado and Summit County, Fairweather comes to Avon from Dillon, where she worked as the director of economic development, marketing and communication since 2007.
Fairweather will work to achieve economic vitality through community investment in projects and partnerships to promote business retention and expansion for the town.
“We are excited to have Susan join us this week. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Avon, which will allow her to hit the ground running,” council member Todd Goulding said. “Her timing couldn’t be better as we start a community wide effort to define Avon’s brand.”
