SUMMIT COUNTY, Colorado – An 11-year-old boy from Avon was killed in a car crash Thursday morning after his father, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle, reportedly rolling it at least once, according to a report from the Summit County Coroner’s Office.

Jasiel Blanco Estrada, of Avon, was ejected from the vehicle when it crashed near the Eisenhower Tunnel on Interstate 70. He was unrestrained sleeping in the backseat at the time of the accident.

He was taken to St. Anthony’s Summit Medical Center in Frisco, where he died just before 10 a.m.

No other individuals were injured and it is believed no other vehicles were involved. The accident remains under investigation, according to the coroner’s statement.

The highway did not close as a result of the accident.
