Avon chief to lead drug seminar

AVON – Avon Police Chief Brian Kozak will be presenting a seminar on drug recognition at the International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference in October in Denver.

Approximately 15,000 police chiefs from all over the world are expected at the conference.

Kozak will talk about how a drug recognition experts used to provide public outreach and education for students and parents. Avon’s program has been highlighted in national publications, and agencies across the United States have implemented similar programs.

The Avon Police Department currently provides two seminars upon request at http://www.avon.org/seminars. They are called “Consequences of Drug and Alcohol Abuse: What Teens Need to Know” and “Drug Influence Recognition for Parents.”

“I am honored to have been asked to present this class and am especially excited that our program is being sought by other law enforcement agencies across the country,” Kozak said
