Avon cleans up next week
AVON – Starting Monday, Avon residents have the chance to get rid of furniture and large appliances like washing machines and dryers. The town is sponsoring a free cleanup week through Friday. Residents can call the Public Works Department to schedule pickup of unwanted small and large items. Public Works crews will pick up the materials between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. Items must be placed on the curb. Crews will not take tires, construction trash or hazardous and toxic waste, such as paint, motor oil and car batteries, among others. Refrigerators will only be accepted with documentation indicating that a certified technician has removed the freon. Refrigerator doors must also be removed. The landfill will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for residential dumping. Vail, Colorado
