AVON — Cleanup week for Avon residents is May 6 — 10. If you have unwanted materials including large items such as washers, dryers or furniture, now is the time to throw them away. Best of all, removal is free.
Starting May 6, Avon residents can contact the Avon Public Works Department to schedule a pickup for small and large items. A town crew will come to your home to pick up the materials between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday Items must be placed curbside. The staff will take your materials, to the Eagle County Landfill.
The public works department will take almost anything except tires and construction trash or hazardous and toxic waste items including paint, motor oil and batteries. Refrigerators or freezers are not acceptable, but individuals can take them to the landfill for recycling as long as the refrigerant has been removed.
Vail Honeywagon will donate a Dumpster for use at Avon’s Swift Gulch facility to accommodate extra yard waste and other materials.
Additionally, the landfill is offering a punch card for disposing of spring cleanup waste. For more information about the punch card, call 970-328-3470.
