Avon considers new weed law
Vail, CO Colorado
AVON – Avon is considering a law that would require noxious weeds to be removed from properties within the town. Public input will be taken at the April 27 Town Council meeting.
“Noxious and nuisance weeds were pervasive in Avon last year and the town wants to get a jump on them this spring,” said Jenny Strehler the Director of Public Works. “We hope that property owners will pay better attention to plants growing on their land and with regular mowing minimize the impact of problem plants”
The town would adopt a list of noxious weeds and outline strategies for combating them. The basis of the list will come from the Colorado Noxious Weed Act and include weeds that commonly grow in Avon.
