Avon council gets better TV coverage

Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

Board: Avon Town Council, Nov. 8 evening meeting.

Present: Reynolds, Evans, Carroll, Phillips, Dantas, Goulding.

Who they talked to: JK Perry, general manager of Channel 5, the community access TV channel.

What they talked about: Perry took council members through a new system of cameras the station is using in the council chambers. That new system includes four cameras and a system that will pipe PowerPoint presentations directly into the TV feed. The new system – as well as a similar system in Vail – can also use graphics to identify council and town staff members, as well as people who frequently speak at meetings.

The system has been paid for with a fee charged by local cable TV operator Comcast.

What’s next? Better-looking Town Council broadcasts, that eventually may be streamed live on the Internet.
