Avon council to consider Main Street project
August 5, 2010
AVON, Colorado – Avon town staff will present options related to financing and construction of the Main Street project on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m. immediately prior to the regularly scheduled Avon Town Council meeting.
The Main Street project consists of a new pedestrian-oriented street with plaza space from Avon Road to Lake Street. Although the project was designed, construction was postponed due to fiscal constraints. During the meeting, town staff will present financial projections for the Urban Renewal Authority, of which the Main Street project is a part.
In addition, Avon Town Council will continue the public hearing on Tuesday night for the Avon Development Code. The council began the public hearing at their last meeting on July 27 and will also have a special meeting to on Aug. 17 to discuss the code.-
The proposed development code was recommended by the 2006 Avon Comprehensive Plan and is intended to replace the Town’s existing 30-year-old zoning and subdivision regulations. The new code simplifies the land use process, provides for clear and predictable development outcomes, and is a means of achieving the town’s goals for a vibrant, walkable town-core and more sustainable development practices.
For more information on either the Main Street project of the development code, call the Community Development Department at 970-748-4030. Information can also be found on the Town’s website at http://www.avon.org/LandUseCode.–
