Avon extends transit routes
AVON — The town of Avon will add two free transit routes to the regular schedule beginning Wednesday.
Night Rider shuttle service
The Night Rider shuttle will offer transport around the valley floor between 6 and 11 p.m., seven days a week. The Night Rider loop will provide service within the town core to locals and visitors, with stops at Westgate Plaza, The Aspens, West Beaver Creek Boulevard, Stone Creek, Buck Creek, Lake Street, Avon Station, Northside Kitchen & Coffee, Buffalo Ridge, Wal-Mart, ANB Bank, Christie Lodge and Eaglebend Apartments. The 36-minute loop will run eight times every evening.
The Wildridge Express shuttle will run twice daily between 8 and 9 a.m., and twice between 3:25 and 4:25 p.m. The free, 30-minute loop will serve the Wildridge neighborhood, with stops at Metcalf Road and Buck Creek Bus Shelter, O’Neil Park, Bear Trap and Wildridge Road, the Nottingham Road Cul-de-sac and Avon Station. From Avon Station, passengers can connect to ECO Transit or the Skier Express Shuttle with access to Beaver Creek Resort.
The town has contracted with Peak 1 Express to provide these services. Sprinter vans and 15-passenger vans will be used to serve these routes, and all shuttles will have magnetic signs designating the routes they serve. Ridership numbers will be collected at each stop and reported to the town weekly.
