AVON, Colorado ” This March, the National Women’s History Project honors women leaders of the environmental movement. In collaboration with this effort, the Avon, Colorado Public Library hosts a free film screening of “A Sense of Wonder” to honor the pioneering works of Rachel Carson. The screening will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Avon Public Library.

Rachel Carson, both a scientist and a writer, is an inspiring figure for her commitment to nature and human health. After publishing the book “Silent Spring” in 1962, Carson encountered much backlash from critics. She eventually received some vindication with the passing of new legislature addressing pollution and pesticides. “A Sense of Wonder” is a 55-minute documentary film portraying Carson during the final year of her life.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 970-949-6797.
