Avon gallery hosts ‘Paint Off’ Feb. 7
VAIL — Art of the Valley Gallery in Avon is sponsoring a Paint Off and Art Show on Feb. 7. The Paint Off is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with an art show and reception to follow from 6 to 8 p.m. Interested artists are asked to email email@example.com.
This event is an opportunity to encourage participating artists to a challenge to create an original painting of the Avon, Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch or Arrowhead resort setting during the 2015 Alpine World Ski Championships, said gallery director Mason Torry. The artists will paint either en plein air or in a studio setting.
Enthusiasts of art are welcome to attend the art show and reception at Art of the Valley Gallery at 240 Chapel Square in Avon; there will be People’s Choice first and second place awards as well as an Artist Choice award for the participating artists.
Guests from around the world will have a chance to take home one of these original pieces of art and enjoy the evening art show and reception with displays of a diverse variety of art from Colorado artists. The art will stay on exhibit in the gallery until Feb. 15. After the exhibit, it is the responsibility of the artist to arrange for pick up or pay for shipping and insurance of artwork from the gallery.
FOR INTERESTED ARTISTS
Registration for the event is limited to 20 artists. Each artist must submit an online application and send three images of their original work to info@artofthe valleygallery.com by Wednesday. The entry fee is $25 (non-refundable). The art produced from the Paint Off must be for sale at the art show the evening of the event. A 30 percent commission on all art work sales will be retained by the gallery. For more details about the event, contact the gallery at 970-390-2685.
