Avon I-70 bridge work begins
Vail, CO Colorado
AVON, Colorado – Crews from G.A. Western began repair work on the Interstate 70 bridge over Avon Road this week. To prevent injuries or further damage, Avon Road will be closed intermittently starting today. Northbound and southbound lanes will be shifted to accommodate two-way traffic as much as possible. Repair work will continue through mid-November.
In May, an accident involving a semi-tractor trailer damaged the bridge and Avon Road when the tractor drove off the bridge causing a explosion and large fire.
Motorists are asked to drive carefully. Call Gary Padilla with the Town of Avon Public Works at 970-748-4118 if you have any questions.
