Avon kicks off Christmas season with Icing in the Park

AVON – Kick off the holiday season at the town of Avon’s Icing in the Park event in Harry A. Nottingham Park Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. Children can take part in favorite winter-time activities such as riding snowmobiles in the park, taking a pedal cab to the giant tubing hill for some fast-paced fun, having their names carved in the ice wall and visiting the reindeer petting zoo. Santa and his Elves will make a special appearance between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.

In addition, the town of Avon is partnering with the Salvation Army to host an “Angel Tree” at the Avon Recreation Center. Visit the Avon Recreation Center today to pick your angel from the tree and adopt-a-child for the holidays. Bring your adopted child’s gift to the Icing in the Park event and get it wrapped for free. Parents, your kids can enter the coloring contest and win great prizes. Just visit Facebook/Avonrecreation for a downloadable ad or watch the Vail Daily for a black and white ad. Have your child color the ad and bring their artwork to the event.

Gather your friends and family and come out to Nottingham Park in Avon for Icing in the Park. The entire event is free. No dogs or alcohol allowed. Due to the compromised lake conditions Nottingham Lake will not be open this winter for ice skating.
