EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – An Avon man has been arrested and charged with possessing child pornography.

The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office arrested Russell Boggs, 33, of Avon, charging him with felony possession and distribution of material involving the sexual exploitation of children (child porn).

During a search of Boggs’ home at the Aspens Mobile Home Park on Wednesday, detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children unit, with assistance from the Avon Police Department, located and seized computers that will be forensically analyzed. Detectives also located marijuana belonging to Boggs’ roommate, Christopher Dillen.

Dillen, age 37, of Avon was arrested and charged with possession and distribution of marijuana in addition to an outstanding warrant for failure to appear.

Boggs and Dillen were both transported to the Eagle County Detention Facility. Boggs is currently being held on a $30,000 bond and Dillen was released on a $7,500 bond.

On the Internet, many children and adults feel safe to speak and act however they want, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Because children feel so safe behind a computer screen, they reveal personal information to strangers they would never give face-to-face: names, photographs, telephone numbers, states and hometowns, police said. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, one in five children who uses an Internet chat room are approached by a pedophile, and one in four children who use the Internet are exposed to unwanted sexual material.

If you think you may have any information associated with child sexual exploitation, call the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office at 970-328-8500 or online at http://www.cybertipline.com
