Avon officer receives award
Vail, CO Colorado
AVON, Colorado – Avon Police Officer Matt Jamison is the recipient of the 2012 Colorado MADD DUI Enforcement Officer of the Year Award in the small municipal agency category of 35 officers or fewer. Officer Jamison received this award formally at the Annual Colorado MADD Law Enforcement Recognition Event in Denver on Sept. 12.
“On a nightly basis, Officer Jamison patrols our community and makes a difference by arresting the impaired driver and deterring others through his educational efforts,” said Police Chief Bob Ticer. “Officer Jamison led the Police Department in DUI arrests last year and through his efforts, Avon is a safer place for our residents and visitors alike.”
In addition to Jamison’s award, MADD recognized the Gore Range DUI Task Force, which is comprised of the Avon Police Department, Vail Police Department, Eagle Police Department, Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Minturn Police Department, and the Colorado State Patrol for the Outstanding Team Award. This is the second year in a row that the team has received this honor for their combined efforts to reduce DUI driving in Eagle County communities.
