Avon officers honored for police work

AVON, Colorado ” Avon, Colorado police officers Aurion Hassinger and Mike Lundblade are due to receive the town’s Medal of Excellence.

In December, Hassinger was involved in a series of successful investigations. He worked with Eagle County investigators on a series of car break-ins that took place throughout the valley. On Dec. 23, the team arrested six suspects on suspicion of involvement of almost 40 crimes.

Hassinger also arrested suspects in a robbery who were later determined to be suspects in other crimes. On Dec. 22, Hassinger connected a peeping tom suspect to similar incidents in Aovn in which the suspect allegedly snuck into women’s bedrooms while they were sleeping.

On Dec. 22, Lundblade responded to a burglary call at Eaglebend III Apartments but did not locate a suspect . Lundblade went to the apartment of someone who earlier in the week had reported a prowler and found footrprints on the balcony. That led him to the roof of the building where he found the suspect who was arrested on suspicion of several counts of trespassing and attempted burgarly.

The awards will be given at Tuesday’s Town Council meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m.
