Avon residents can cleanup for free

AVON, Colorado -The Town of Avon is sponsoring a cleanup week for residents from Monday through May 21. If you have unwanted materials, including large items such as washers, dryers or furniture, now is the time to trash them. Best of all, removal is free.Starting on Monday, Avon residents can contact Avon Public Works Department to schedule a pickup for unwanted small and large items. A public works crew will come to residents’ homes to pick up the materials between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.Items must be placed curbside and the staff will take materials, free of charge, to the dump. The Public Works Department will take almost anything except tires, construction trash and hazardous and toxic waste items such as paints, motor oil and batteries.Refrigerators or freezers will not be accepted, but individuals can take them to the Eagle County landfill for recycling as long as the Freon has been removed.
