Avon road work begins this week

Daily Staff Report

AVON ” The first phase of Avon road construction ” stripping and re-laying asphalt on Avon Road from Nottingham Road to Beaver Creek Boulevard ” is scheduled to begin this week and last until Memorial Day weekend.

Some of the work will take place near the Interstate 70 interchange, where town officials expect a lot of traffic.

To avoid backups, officials suggest drivers take alternate routes. Coming from the east, to get to the commercial center in Avon, including City Market, use the Post Boulevard exit, 168, and take East Beaver Creek Boulevard into town.

Coming from the west, take U.S. Highway 6 to Avon Road. Wildridge residents can detour from Nottingham Road to Swift Gulch Road to Post Boulevard to avoid the interstate interchange altogether.

“We will do our best to minimize delays and interruptions, but unfortunately there is inevitable congestion,” town officials said in a press release. “We urge motorists to please be patient and cautious around work crews and construction areas.”
