Avon will recycle Christmas trees

AVON “-The town of Avon, Colorado will pick up and recycle Christmas trees left on curbs from Friday until Jan. 31, 2009.-

All trees must have their lights and ornaments removed. The town will pick up only cut trees; no flocked or artificial trees, wreaths or seasonal debris will be picked up.

Avon’s Public Works Department will check for trees on a frequent basis, but residents would want to schedule a pick up, can call Avon’s Public Works Department. For more information or to schedule a pick up, contact Maggie Lach at 970-748-4100 or email mlach@avon.org.

Other holiday “leftovers” can be recycled at Eagle Valley Alliance’s free drop-off recycling site on East Beaver Creek Boulevard. For the holiday season, a large Dumpster has been placed at the site to handle cardboard waste. Remember these guidelines:

– Flatten every single-box

– No packing material, wrapping paper or other trash
