Avon woman joins ski history board
MANCHESTER, Vt. – Avon resident Debby McClenahan is one of six new directors appointed to the board of directors of the International Skiing History Association. The nonprofit organization teaches ski history.McClenahan, director of Community Bank, a group of banks located in western Montana, is a former ski instructor and graduate of Montana State University.She was formerly marketing director of California’s Kirkwood Ski Resort, executive director of Ski The High Sierra, and national resort manager for Snow Country Magazine. A past director of the Vail Symposium, McClenahan served on state committees for the Women’s Foundation of Colorado and is one of the founders of Swift Eagle, a nonprofit organization that tries to help the needy in Eagle County. The organization’s “Annual Gathering” will be held in Vail in 2006. International Skiing History Association publishes a quarterly magazine, Skiing Heritage. The organization recently published a comprehensive ski bibliography, and also is working on compiling oral histories of major figures in the ski industry. Vail, Colorado
