AVON — Boxcar Restaurant will kick off its new Ales & Acoustics Series Thursday as the restaurant celebrates its one-year anniversary. Happy hour begins at 2 p.m. on the new patio, which has views of Beaver Creek mountain.

“Our first year in the Vail Valley has been an adventure. From developing our menus to complement seasonal ingredients, getting caught in the World Alpine Ski Championship buzz and partnering with our fellow community members and events, a year later we feel like locals,” said Cara Luff, a co-owner and chef along with Hunter Chamness.

The evening will showcase Boxcar’s seasonal spring menu, craft spirits and extensive beer menu, including 10 beer taps plus more than 20 cans and bottles. Dinner service begins at 5 p.m. Andy Leister and Dylan Heaney will perform from 8 to 10 p.m., kicking off the new 2015 Ales & Acoustics series.

Co-owners and chefs, Cara Luff and Hunter Chamness, have chosen to donate 20 percent of proceeds to Avon’s Walking Mountains Science Center.

“Walking Mountains embodies the innovative and caring spirit which we strive to bring to our guests. Walking Mountains does it through education; we offer it through cuisine. It’s an honor to bring light to their youth and adult programming,” Chamness said.
