VAIL – When an Eagle Vail resident, handed her baby over to a babysitter at 6 p.m. Friday at the West Vail 7-Eleven, she expected to get her baby back the next day. But when the sitter didn’t show up Saturday morning, Mom called the cops, said Susan Douglas, a commander with the Vail Police Department. As Vail police worked on putting out an amber alert for the 5-month-old’s abduction, Douglas said police called the suspect’s cell phone. The sitter answered the phone, and gave police her location at a McDonald’s restaurant in Arvada.”Yeah, you’ve got to love it when people cooperate with police,” Douglas said. Arvada police picked up the babysitter and the baby, who wasn’t harmed. The sitter is being held in Arvada on other, unrelated charges. Additional charges are pending in Vail.Staff Writer Nicole Frey can be reached at 949-0555, ext. 14621, or Vail, Colorado
