Bachelor Gulch Village, the central ski village of the popular village-to-village skiing between Beaver Creek and Arrowhead resorts, is among the most pristine alpine neighborhoods in the Vail Valley. Located entirely on-mountain, Bachelor Gulch is the perfect ski-in/ski-out residential community.
Bachelor Gulch Village is aptly named after a group of single men who settled the area in the early 1900s. This group of adventurous bachelors made a living off the land pursuing numerous endeavors including logging, farming, and raising cattle and chickens. By the 1920s, Bachelor Gulch was awash in fields of lettuce, a crop that proved to grow exceptionally well in the high-altitude.
Eventually, the Great Depression caused the residents of Bachelor Gulch to leave the area, and the beautiful mountainside remained quietly tucked away for nearly 50 years.
Stemming from the success of Beaver Creek Resort, people have once again taken up residency in Bachelor Gulch. Beginning in 1995, Bachelor Gulch Village has been developed to link Beaver Creek Mountain in the east to Arrowhead Mountain in the west, offering some of the best slope-side real estate in the valley.
Carefully planned by the Vail Resorts Development Company to complement the natural mountain environment, the architecture of Bachelor Gulch Village is inspired by the grand lodges of many of America’s national parks. With ideal ski-in/ski-out accommodations, Bachelor Gulch Village also features uniquely designed and unobtrusive skier bridges that weave throughout the community.
The luxurious new Ritz-Carlton®, Bachelor Gulch is one of the newest additions to the mountain landscape. The hotel property features 236 spacious guest rooms, seven first-class meeting rooms, a 7,200-square-foot ballroom, a children’s center, three restaurants and an exclusive first-class spa. Guests at the resort also have access to tee times at the Vail Valley’s newest golf addition, Red Sky Ranch. The beautiful new development features two world-class courses, one designed by Tom Fazio and the other by Greg Norman.
During the winter ski season, Zach’s Cabin, located slope-side in Bachelor Gulch, is a perfect resting point for Bachelor Gulch Club members to trade in their stiff, wet boots for soft, warm slippers and relax in front of a roaring fire. Named for Zach Allen, a Colorado sheriff’s deputy killed in the line of duty in 1876, Zach’s is an elegant ski-in/ski-out private dining facility. Not your typical on-mountain burger and fries joint, Zach’s menu offers contemporary cuisine featuring many signature Colorado specialties.
