Backstage Theatre presents ‘Last Dinner on the Titanic’
BRECKENRIDGE ” The Backstage Theatre has announced the revival of My Dinner with the Backstage, set for Thursday from 6-10 p.m. The Hearthstone Restaurant will host this unique evening of wine, fine food and entertainment.
The theme is “Last Dinner on the Titanic,” a re-creation of the first-class dinner served aboard the ill-fated liner. Diners will board the “ship of dreams,” encounter crew members and noted fellow passengers (the Astors, J.P. Morgan, and the unsinkable Molly Brown), learn interesting facts about the ship and food served in the elegant dining hall (the ocean liner had 800 bundles of asparagus onboard before it went down), experience music of the era, and enjoy a five-course gourmet meal based on the final dinner served April 14, 1912.
Guests will enjoy silent and live auctions and entertainment of the period ” including a string quartet, a tipsy Molly Brown’s rendition of a vaudeville favorite and an infectious Irish jig courtesy of third-class passengers who crash the dinner party.
Boarding Passes for the event are $85 per person. The Captain’s Table (seating six guests) may be reserved for $1,000. Black tie, period costumes or shipboard attire is encouraged. Call the Backstage Theatre at 453-0199 to make reservations.
