Bagalis’ motto invites patrons to eat, drink, dance and love. This Italian restaurant combines great food, unique cocktails, music, art and a cozy atmosphere to achieve its motto.
The drink menu alone is reason enough to visit. It features a sizeable wine list, original martinis and cocktails with homemade infused liquors. The “Allotarum” is most popular, and combines pineapple-infused rum, four additional rums, pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine for color. The tropical drink is three-quarters rum, so watch your intake.
Two excellent starters include the blackened ahi tuna carpaccio and bruschetta trio. The seared tuna is served on greens beside a salsa made of mango, peach, cucumber, cherry tomato and cilantro. The salsa is refreshing, colorful and offsets the heavier tuna. The first of the bruschetta trio is topped with salmon, capers, pickled red onions and lemon creme freshe. The second is overlaid with salami, mascarpone and pepper relish, while the third is topped with olive oil, tomato slices and a strong green-olive tapenade.
The spinach gorgonzola follows nicely and is a superstar among other great salads on the menu. Huge spinach leaves get covered in gorgonzola, seasonal fruit, candied walnuts and a poppy seed and berry dressing.
Choose your own adventure is an apt description for the pasta menu. Pick the pasta and then top with one of 10 made-to-order sauces. The caprese is a pink sauce not too heavy on the cream and delicious when topped with a la carte meatballs so flavorful and tender an Italian grandmother would be envious. The pizza is perhaps the best thin crust in the county. Try the gorgonzola and smoked bacon. Potato slices, garlic, gorgonzola, bacon and mozzarella are loaded onto a crunchy crust and garnished with fresh tomato and spinach tossed in champagne vinaigrette.
