Baking and books

Special to the Vail TrailCupcake princess Liz Rakoff of Batter shows off treats fit for royalty.

Little girls dream of pink and princesses and happy endings.

On May 13, children’s author Carmela LaVigna Coyle, the author of the massive-selling series that includes “Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots?,” “Do Princesses Scrape Their Knees?” and “Do Princesses Really Kiss Frogs?” came to the Bookworm in Riverwalk to great many lovely little girls for a party fit for, yes, little princesses.

The Bookworm paired up with Batter Cupcakes out of Eagle-Vail, which baked some regal cupcakes for the guests. Dressed up in their Snow White best, the young ladies schmoozed with a real author and had a truly lovely time.

There’s always lots on the calendar at The Bookworm. On June 14, they are hosting

“The Return of the Chess Beast,” so if you have a young chess player in the house, make sure you sign up for this fun event.
